RCYC enjoys a diverse collection of boats, and even a more diverse racing scene.
Our normal racing season stars with our Annual Texas Independence Day Regatta, hosted the first weekend in March.
Club Racing is held every Saturday following the TIDay Regatta at 3pm. ALL BOATS are welcome and we plan on setting two courses, with the shorter course dedicated to dinghys. All boats will be scored under PHRF/Portsmouth, and all One Design fleets will be a subset.
During the Spring months, we also host one of our two DinghyFests, and our amazing Crawdad Cup. As daylight is increased with Day Light Savings Time, we start our weekly Wednesday night races. Again ALL boats are welcome as we “Relax” on the water while chasing our friends around the race course. Races start at 6:30 at first and move to 7:00.
The Spring Series ends and the Summer Series starts with our Annual Founder’s Regatta which is held on Memorial Day Weekend. Saturday afternoon races move to a little later time to deal with the Texas Heat. Wednesday night races continue at 7:00.
Summer series comes to a conclusion with our One Night Stand race, and we move back to Saturday 3pm starts. Wednesday Night races cuntinue through fall until we switch back from Day Light Savings Time.
The last weekend of September is reserved for our George Griffith Keel Boat Regatta. Our Fall DinghyFest is held in the middle of October.
The normal sailing season slows down in late fall, but we do hold the Commodore’s Requiem the first weekend of December followed by our Annual Members Meeting.
While all this is going on, our SUPER ACTIVE MC Scows are racing EVERY SUNDAY AFTERNOON!
If an active Racing is your cup of tea, then please take the time to learn more about our Racing Fleets.
